So, many of you are probably familiar with that whole Rep. Andrew Weiner’s Twitter/sexting scandal back in 2011, and there are many, many other instances of politicians getting caught after sending out… ahem.. less than appropriate photos of themselves. Apparently that kind of behavior is not limited to just Federal officials- the local guys want to get in on the fun too.
Years ago, I briefly dated the “Politician.” Generally a nice guy, held a local office position and was doing his part to change the world. I’m sure on many accounts he was doing a fine job at it. He and I just didn’t share enough interests and the relationship soon faded. That is, until someone (him) decided to spice things up with special photo.
I can’t accurately describe the anxiety that occurs when a photo of a guy’s junk shows up on your phone without notice. It’s jarring with notice, but without, it’s near traumatizing. I’ve never hit ‘delete’ so fast in my life and all I could think was “What just happened?!?! Why???”
My takeways from the situation:
Gents- don’t text a girl, who you’re not serious with, pictures of your package. Just don’t. It’s not sexy, particularly at 9am on weekday when she’s at the office.
Ladies and Gents- think really carefully about texting any sensitive materials before you do it, because you never know when and where they might show up again. Do you really trust the person on the other end of that message?
As for Politician? I hope he’s found that special someone to share his passion for photography with, but I’m glad it’s not me.
You are a wise young woman – keep up the astute observations. The good men will find you.

Even though I requested more photos in the past I am grateful there are no photos provided on this post.
