Crazy Cat Dude – Part 1

I’ve told this story to many of my friends and family because it’s so outrageous. To this day, I’m still a little freaked out. As you may have guessed from the title, this one’s going to be a multi-part post, simply because there is too much crazy to contain in one. Enjoy!

I’ll go on record to say that Crazy Cat Guy seemed totally normal the first time I met him. Job, house, had been married before, but divorced for some time, a little older (early 40s) and just generally nice. We talked and laughed for a little more than an hour over coffee and all seemed right in the world.

He had mentioned that he owned  a cat, which is fine, I have nothing against cats, but there is a level of crazy that just couldn’t remain hidden for longer than the first date.

Date two. At some point, he starts talking about his cats- plural. Again, not a deal breaker because he had two, but he seemed overly excited while talking about how these two cats were his babies and he loved playing with them, biting them- yes I  said biting. That was a thing for him. (red flag) Cat Dude

Date three. I should have seen the crazy prior to this and not even attempted date three, but you live and learn. The guy pulled out a photo album of his cats. Photo album. Not on his phone, I mean a real, 5×7 book style photo album with printed pictures of just his cats- current and deceased.

Best/creepiest part? Not only did the album have pictures, there were little tufts of fur in some of the photo sleeves – much like a parent might save hair from their child’s first hair cut.

I’ll tell you what to do in this type of situation- though I hope you never experience it- you act interested. You say the cats are the most adorable creatures on the face of the Earth. Why? So you don’t get murdered.

I spent the rest of the date being the sweetest, most interested person ever,(I deserve an Oscar, seriously) leading to some frightening conversation regarding life on Mars, which I’ll tell you all about in Part 2.
